| Position Responsibilities: |
This Southern Indiana bank has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Controller who aspires to be the next Controller. This is an opportunity where you can learn from the best as you upwardly manage your career and grow within this bank. The Assistant Controller will assist the Controller in all responsibilities for financial reporting, policies and supervision of consolidated accounting functions. A key function will be to maintain knowledge of current and pending FASB, GAAP, SEC and Sarbanes-Oxley changes, their impact on the bank and to provide assistance to the Controller in regards to department oversight for full implementation. Also assist the Controller with financial data preparation for use in analyst presentations and press releases and implementation of controls remediation throughout bank. This position also works closely with Corporate Accounting, Financial Planning and Financial Reporting to provide guidance on accounting policies and reporting issues. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for all external reporting and oversight of monthly consolidation of financial data including responsibility for 100% compliance with new 8-K filing rules. Several challenges await the Assistant Controller: • Keeping current on the latest accounting pronouncements and Regulatory guidelines amidst a seemingly constant flow of changes from SEC, PCAOB and Sarbanes-Oxley. • Ensuring compliance with FAS 157/159 in 2008. • Heightening M&A activity in 2008. • Working closely with Treasury to gain understanding of various debt instruments entered into and related derivative instruments to ensure proper application of GAAP accounting. Qualifications: • CPA is required with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with 10+ years of financial reporting experience, both bank and SEC. • 3 to 5 years Public Accounting Experience is also required. • Financial consolidation software experience (Hyperion, SRC, etc). • Sarbanes-Oxley and SEC, OCC and other regulatory background. • Strong organizational, analytical and computer skills. • Ability to work within strict deadlines. • Dedication to quality, accuracy and timeliness. • "Whatever it takes!" attitude and the ability to adapt to change quickly. |
