Job Description:

This position will be responsible for: various monthly close items (including balance sheet analysis, reconciliations and journal entries) and management reporting. The position will also involve supporting the controller in implementing a new general ledger system (Great Plains) and building the annual budget and quarterly forecasts. JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS: • Perform month-end financial close responsibilities (i.e. generate monthly standard journal entries, generate appropriate accruals, research variances). • Prepare and distribute monthly financials • Filing and processing of monthly and quarterly sales taxes and payments and ensuring compliance with other federal, state, and city requirements • Detailed Tracking and Reporting of Deferred Revenue • Assistance on Budget and Forecast Process • Ad Hoc Reporting • Support migration from QuickBooks to Great Plains

Mandatory Minimum Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: • 3-4 years of accounting experience • Detailed knowledge of Great Plains a must; they use excel report writer (also necessary) • Strong knowledge of Excel and the manipulation of spreadsheets • Media/Publishing industry knowledge a plus- (not really) • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Strong team player • Ability to meet deadlines • Detail-oriented and self-motivated • good with details: understand the concept of deferred revenue
